PARENTS
Lots of teenagers complain about adults nagging them, and the biggest naggers of all are parents. You might be surprised to know there are things you can do to help your parents stop nagging.
FIRST - STOP
- Telling dad to stop nagging you - this doesn't work, in fact it is likely to make things worse
- Ignoring mum when she nags - this will also make it worse - mum will think you haven't heard or are being rude and will say it again - probably louder
Think about why your parents are nagging. Yes it drives you crazy - but that's not the main aim of nagging (although it probably feels like it sometimes).
It is more likely to be because they are worried about you and they are trying to keep you safe. You can reduce how much they worry about you (it will never go completely away) and you can show them that you are getting older now and can look after some of this diabetes stuff yourself and still stay safe.
DID YOU KNOW... parents don't like nagging either? It is annoying, exhausting and frustrating (think about when you have nagged your parents "Come ON Dad, can't we go NOW?"). Your parents will probably be very keen to work with you to stop the nagging.
